Are You Still Code-Compliant? A Check-In for NJFS Customers in 2025

Your Panel Lights Might Be On But That Doesn’t Mean You’re in the Clear

You already have a fire and security system in place. But if it’s been more than a year since your last review, there’s a real possibility something has shifted,  and not in a way you can see from the keypad.

At New Jersey Fire & Security, we’ve spent the first half of 2025 walking buildings across Monmouth and Middlesex counties, helping our customers identify small issues before they become bigger problems. From outdated inspection records to signal paths that fail under test, we’ve seen it all and fixed most of it the same day.

What We’re Catching During Walkthroughs

Even for long-time customers, we often find issues that would hold up a fire inspection or insurer audit. The most common problems this year include:

  • Batteries that expired in January or February but haven’t been replaced

  • Documents that were filed, but never fully logged for inspection records

  • Communication tests that don’t make it to the monitoring center

  • Access control panels with outdated or unmanaged credential lists

These issues don’t always mean your system is broken. But they can mean it’s not compliant, and that’s what triggers enforcement from New Jersey’s Division of Fire Safety.

It’s Our Job to Protect What You Already Have

We don’t show up looking for problems to sell you out of. In fact, most of the time we’re able to resolve compliance gaps without replacing hardware. When something does need attention like a signal path that doesn’t test cleanly, or batteries nearing the end of their cycle, we show you exactly what’s wrong and how to correct it with minimal disruption.

If your system still meets code, we’ll confirm it, document it, and you’re good to go. If not, we’ll explain why, and fix only what needs attention.

Familiar Technicians, Faster Answers

One of the advantages of working with a local company like NJFS is that you’re not starting from scratch every time. When you call us, you’re likely to get a technician who’s already familiar with your building, understands your system’s history, and can walk you through solutions without having to relearn your site.

That means faster resolutions, better documentation, and less downtime when something does need a fix.

Don’t Let an Expired Log Slow You Down

Fire inspections and insurance audits come around whether your system is ready or not. Don’t find out too late that a small oversight like a missed credential update, or an incomplete test report could delay an occupancy, trigger a citation, or affect your policy.

Let’s walk the building together. Call (732) 795‑0611 or Contact Us to schedule your mid-year system review.
